The Fonds d’Entretien Routier (FER) of the Republic of Guinea is a public company with financial and administrative autonomy, tasked with financing and managing the nation’s road network. Its primary role is to mobilize and administer funds for the routine and periodic maintenance of roads, road safety improvements, and related studies. The FER’s objectives are to ensure the sustainability and proper upkeep of the road infrastructure to support economic development and facilitate the transport of people and goods. To achieve this, its functions include collecting revenue from sources like fuel levies and tolls, managing these funds transparently, and financing crucial infrastructure projects, such as the construction of bridges and the rehabilitation of key economic corridors. Recently, the FER has focused on developing a five-year strategic plan to modernize its governance, diversify its resources, and enhance performance and transparency in how funds are allocated.
