The Roads Fund Board (RFB) was established under the Roads Fund Act of 2001 to manage and disburse funds collected through the fuel levy and other road user charges in Tanzania. It serves as the primary financing body for maintenance and rehabilitation of the country’s road infrastructure.

The mission of RFB is to secure and allocate adequate and sustainable funds for preserving road assets. RFB ensures transparency, accountability, and value for money in the disbursement of road maintenance funds to implementing agencies. Its role is central to reducing transport costs, enhancing road safety, and supporting economic activities in both urban and rural Tanzania.
