Road Maintenance Fund of Senegal (FERA)

Position: Senegal
Categories: Members, West Africa

The Road Maintenance Fund of Senegal (FERA) is a public-interest legal entity with financial autonomy, established to ensure the sustainable financing for the protection of the national road network and its dependencies. Its primary mandate is to manage the resources allocated for road maintenance and to finance all related work, including routine and periodic maintenance, emergency repairs, and road safety improvements. FERA’s key functions involve collecting dedicated revenues, primarily from a fee levied on petroleum products (the Road User Fee or RPU), and programming and executing the annual road maintenance program in collaboration with the Ministry of Infrastructure. By providing a stable and secure source of funding, FERA aims to preserve the nation’s road assets, ensure the long-term viability of the road network, improve traffic flow and safety, and support Senegal’s overall economic and social development.
