The Ministry of Equipment and Road Maintenance is the principal government body responsible for planning, developing, and maintaining the Republic of Congo’s road infrastructure. It oversees the management of the country’s 15 national routes (Routes Nationales), which form the backbone of domestic connectivity, linking major cities, towns, and border points. The Ministry plays a central role in policy formulation and infrastructure development, ensuring that national road networks support economic growth, regional integration, and public mobility.

In addition to its core functions, the Ministry is actively involved in strategic projects such as the Brazzaville-Kinshasa road-rail bridge, which aims to strengthen cross-border trade and cooperation with the Democratic Republic of Congo. The Ministry also supports infrastructure investments backed by international partners, including a European Union–financed study that led to an updated national road classification. Its mission centers on building and maintaining a modern, resilient transport network while promoting regional integration, efficient mobility, and socio-economic development across the Republic of Congo.
