The Administração Nacional de Estradas (ANE), or National Roads Administration of Mozambique, is the primary authority responsible for the planning, construction, and maintenance of Mozambique’s road infrastructure. Established in 1999 as an autonomous public institution under the Ministry of Public Works, ANE manages the national road network and implements road policy.
ANE’s mission is to provide a safe, efficient, and sustainable road network that supports the country’s social and economic development. It leads major infrastructure projects, including regional corridors that facilitate trade and mobility. ANE also collaborates with development partners and oversees donor-funded programs aimed at improving road connectivity, especially in rural and underserved areas.
